Generally I never re-post things to my Blog, but the following article is so very important and a voice we rarely, if ever, have a chance to hear. In light of the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary, and all of the others mass shootings across our country this is a voice we NEED to hear so I ask that you indulge me this one time re-post an excerpt of someone else’s writings and please, please click the link and actually read the story then pass it on, re-blog, tweet, “like” re-post, etc…

“A few weeks ago, Michael pulled a knife and threatened to kill me and then himself after I asked him to return his overdue library books. His 7 and 9 year old siblings knew the safety plan — they ran to the car and locked the doors before I even asked them to. I managed to get the knife from Michael, then methodically collected all the sharp objects in the house into a single Tupperware container that now travels with me. Through it all, he continued to scream insults at me and threaten to kill or hurt me.”

Thanks for the reblog, It was very insightful and moving. I’m one of those people that believe mental health and mental illness needs to be taken seriously.

You are welcome. THIS is a very important topic. By the way, if you see controversy surrounding the writer and her blog, disregard it. There is a woman and her friends that are trying to do a major smear campaign on the writer for no other reason then to capitalize on the viral nature of her article. It is disgusting and even I was almost taken in by it. I spent a considerable amount of time vetting this. It is real.

You see, when these issues happen, its always the murderer that becomes infamous and not the victims. And I don’t think their has been any confirmed reports that #AdamLanza had mental health issues. I heard that he had Asperger’s Syndrome which is a disability on the Autism Spectrum, but this condition has not been associated with violence. Thus, I’m not sure what was the point of writing this article, mental health is an important issue to address, but not at the expense of the those not here to defend themselves.
Its possible that he and some of these other people are not mentally ill, we just need “answer” to explain what happened, and we may never get those answers.

I do understand what you are saying however it is very important to understand the medication(s) it is said that Adam Lanza was on. Fanapt (iloperidone) is an anti-psychotic medication. A controversial anti-psychotic medicine. Drugs used to treat so-called mental defects, disorders, and diseases have a lot of side affects and Fanapt in particular has a very troubled past.
From Drugs.com, side effects of the drug Fanapt: Psychiatric side effects including restlessness, aggression, and delusion have been reported frequently. Hostility, decreased libido, paranoia, anorgasmia, confusional state, mania, catatonia, mood swings, panic attack, obsessive-compulsive disorder, bulimia nervosa, delirium, polydipsia psychogenic, impulse-control disorder, and major depression have been reported infrequently.
In fact, Fanapt was dropped by its first producer, picked up by another, initially rejected by the FDA, then later picked up and mass produced.
There is still much to find out about the people that do these things, but the other factors surrounding facts that remain to be known cannot be kicked aside.
