The Missing Peace

The idea of peace can be somewhat vague. It depends on who you ask. Some people have small visions of peace while others have a grander scheme of how the world should be. Each believes their way is the best or most important way to reach peace. I think combining the two is what can create peace on a scale the world has yet to see.

Often times we get locked into something passionately and that passion can make us unreasonable. Our bullheadedness blinds us, but it isn’t our fault.

The world has so many nasty bits that it is hard to know what singular thing can bring revolutionary change. Do we focus on a leader or set of leaders? Or, are we better off to put our attention towards individual issues? If issues are the key, who is to decide which issues matter most? Something that matters greatly to me may be something you give two squats about. Essentially, this is the very crux of the problem.

We have a media that is owned and operated via government channels. We have a food supply that is owned and operated via government channels. We have a weapons industry that is owned and operated via government channels. We have a medical system that is owned and operated via government channels. We have a mess is what we have and without change, we have a very bleak future.

I remember back when the Iraq war was still new and fresh. I was very involved politically. It baffled me and sometimes even pissed me off when people would argue what I felt were lesser points on lesser issues. I neglected — not to see, but to care about why a different issue might matter so much to someone else when in my mind there were much more important things to worry about and fight for.  I have discovered that it takes all kinds and when you boil it down the common denominators are clear and it’s just a matter of helping others do the maze backwards which means we have to start at the end.

Do we want war or peace?

The end is now. Every single thing wrong with and in our world (including personally) can be traced backwards to a beginning. What is it? Until we get to the root we cannot find the missing peace.

Oh Cheri, you picked a BIG topic to write about. Yes, peace begins in one’s own heart and spreads outwardly to family, friends, the community, the world. It begins with our own children and whether we set an example of love or war in our home; whether we teach them acceptance or intolerance…and the list goes on. Without peace in our own hearts, there can never be peace in the world.

So many of us seem to want war, though. I mean, if we’re going back in time, war dominates headlines, creates jobs, and keeps things moving forward. Peace is boring to so many, even though we give adequate lip service to it.

I like the idea of doing the maze backward. I also like how you embrace “all kinds” here. Wise words, my friend. {{{Hugs}}} Kozo

    I have a little story for you…

So last night at work I was a bit angry because the store was a wreck. I alone cleaned up the section I was working in that day( its usually 3-4 people for a section) then i went to the suit department to help them out because its only two of them and the suit department takes up a quarter of the store. I basically folded and fixed half of the store. But, they stuck Women’s Plus Size in the corner of the Mens Department and so we aren’t technically required to work that area but at the end of the night we give it a quick go over. However, management made cut backs and basically the person that usually is assigned to Plus Size isn’t working there anymore. So all day, everyday, no one is tending to that section. So when I go back there for the quick go over .. it was a mess. Destroyed. Half the racks where on the floor. Not one piece of clothing was folded on the tables. So i started tackling the mess when my manager FINALLY comes by and pulls people from different sections to help.

They all ended up talking about going to war with North Korea. Great topic for debate. Interesting to see who was pro war and anti war. But no one was folding a damn thing. And the stupidity I heard of reasons FOR war. I wanted to bury their bodies under all the clothes.

Last night reminded me everyone is a media driven clone. They listen and watch to what the media tells them. But even more so now a days they listen to TMZ and twitter. Last night proved that for me. People don’t CARE enough to research what the believe in.

THis post reminded me of that. I’m all for people believing in different things. As long as common sense is applied and they researched the matter. So i never got angry or upset when people weren’t riled up about a social or political issue like I was.

Anywho, I’ve seem to lost my point in my rambling. Great post though. I think its important we each work that maze backwards to understand ourselves and find the truth. Only then can we really and truly help others and act accordingly.
