When President Bush pushed through the Patriot Act and again when it was extended, it didn’t matter how many of us were screaming “No”, because enough of you supported or overlooked his actions that it went through.
When President Obama pushed through the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), it didn’t matter how many of us were screaming “No”, because enough of you supported or overlooked his actions that it went through.
When Habeas Corpus was suspended and Posse Comitatus was gutted, it didn’t matter how many of us were screaming “No”, because enough of you supported or overlooked these actions that it was allowed.
We have lost thousands of American lives, supposedly for “our freedom”, yet our “freedom” is the very thing you seem to keep handing over on a silver platter with every one of their dying breaths.
I do not blame the politicians. Instead, I blame you, the lazy, complacent American and also the so-called “Patriot” who is so bitter and raving they make the entire collective of concerned citizens look like loons, which only makes the lazy and complacent assholes more lazy and complacent. And forget about any chance of reaching across any party platform and finding a receptive ear.
We are not free. America is no longer a free country. There is nothing you do that cannot be known if the government wants to know it, and if they don’t like it — whatever it is, they can detain you indefinitely. Get it? No trial, no judge, no checks and balances. With technology, anything — including “evidence” can be manufactured, just like the fear that you have spent nearly 12 long years faithfully swallowing in the name of God or Country or both.
Whose country is this? Is it yours? I know for certain it’s mine, but sadly, it has been a very long time since I have felt any pride in ownership.
YOU are the NSA Spy because it is you that is responsible for this terrifying point in our country’s history.
Are you proud now?
I see this same kind of complacency in Canada.

You’re scary when you’re right. I was recently thinking that even though I’m not a huge fan of some thing that came out of the 60s, the power of protest is one thing I miss (and I wasn’t even alive back then). I try to sign petition on change.org, because I feel the need to do something!

They are using the National Guard (be it on duty or via scam) to radicalize the system in my state. Some prick who wanted to involve others in his scams uses them and his buddy system from his service in the Army. Fortunately, someone who had actually seen the National Guard taking over in Arkansas once caught them.
