Who You Love

love-the-one-soul-mates

There was a string of lyrics that caught my ear the other day. Although I had heard the song before, I hadn’t really listened, but this time I heard this…

“…you can’t make yourself stop dreaming who you’re dreaming ofif it’s who you love, then it’s who you love*.”

I know this!

I feel this.

Sometimes it is the most amazing feeling in the world.

Other times it just hurts.

There are some who will say we have the power to choose when it comes to who we love. Mostly these are people talking on the side of the coin for monogamy and happily ever after. In other words, hands off, he’s not yours and is in fact someone else’s altogether.

But, is love really a choice?

I understand we can choose to overlook certain things about someone and love them any way, but can we avoid feeling love unannounced?

If we believe in chemistry and soul mates and all of that.

If we believe in finding, “the one”, then we must also believe that regardless of circumstances, “the one” is still, “the one”.

How’s that for “Cheri Speak”?

I’m not trying to baffle anyone with bullshit in order to justify something, it’s just that it occurred to me that all of those who are “attached” and believe they are with, “the one” couldn’t imagine their live’s without that person. So if that’s the case, then what if the circumstances of their meeting  had been different?

What if the person had been married, terminally ill, in another country or myriad other scenarios?

What if you met them in a different place and time? Would you still know they were, “the one” or would they be,

“the one”…who got away?

I agree. I always said that if my love suddenly became a big burly man but with the morals and the heart that I completely adore still intact, would I still love her? I’d like to think I would.
