What a Trip; Acid Not Included

Not long after my last post regarding cancer deciding to adopt one of my kidneys I went to visit my children in Oregon. I was so happy to see them and spend a week with them. I hate being so far away…

Anyhow, this isn’t about how much I miss my kids!

Less than 12-hours after arriving home from Oregon I found myself arrested for a DUI warrant from 2009 in Joshua Tree, CA.

Now, while it is true I had a DUI one time in my life, I also went to court and paid a $1700 fine in cash in one lump sum. In addition, I attended a class in the new county I had moved to (Orange, CA); a class mind you, that the OC courts told me to go to after they read the order from the JT judge. After I attended that class way back when, the instructor advised me it was the wrong class altogether! What? Seriously? Yes…

So…

I took a long ass drive through the CA desert and returned to JT where I reported this in an affidavit to the court. The judge was not available nor in session. They documented my info and said if there was something more I needed to do I would hear from them.

I never heard from them.

Fast forward 1-year later — a few weeks after my mom died, I found myself in a precarious living situation and sought help through San Bernardino County — the county in which I had had my DUI the year before. As a requirement to receive any help I had to have a clean record free of any warrants…they ran me and the case worker returned good to go and they helped me go home to my kids in Oregon.

Fast forward again by a little more than 3-years and I returned to CA to get my lost birth certificate all straightened out so I could get a current state mandated ID.

All this leads me back to where I started;, about 12-hours after arriving fresh from Oregon I find myself in handcuffs carted away to the county jail which is a massive detention center about an hour or so away from where I live.

Crazy.

Me…

…In jail…

…for more than 2-weeks.

Can ya believe it?

Me either!

Wait ’til ya hear my jail house blues stories…stay tuned! 😉

Cheri, I can’t imagine the cold, cruel, government that treats its citizens in this manner and yet cowers before the mere shadow of others. Shame.
